Location: C/Àlaba, 24-28; Passatge General Bassols, 23 (Barcelona)

 

The project proposes a new nursery school in Poble Nou, which is a deficient district in such equipment. It is a new building project in a set of two empty lots occupied currently with provisional uses. The program is based on standards established for these uses. One of the parameters to consider is that the area is constantly under urban transformation, the environment and context switches every now and then.

The main topics arising from the exercise are:
- Working in a new building located in a built environment.
- Tackling with the complex geometry of the setting-up location.
- Make sense of the project while working with a very detailed functional program.
- Lay the foundations for building systems.

 

The volume strategy consists of grouping modules that share a courtyard and service areas. The different scales allows children to have a conception of rich spaces.
